I’m an Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Bowdoin College (Maine, USA) interested in queer youth literature, media, and culture. My scholarship examines queer YA’s relationship with the histories of negativity that haunt contemporary cultures, the representation of queer teen Latinidades, and queer approaches to emotion, space, time, and narrative. I teach courses on queer youth literatures, teen cinema, Latine fiction, video games, and queer media.
My first book, The Reparative Impulse of Queer Young Adult Literature was published in October 2024 by Routledge’s Children’s Literature and Culture series. My work has appeared in Children’s Literature, Research on Diversity in Youth Literature, The ALAN Review, Queer Studies in Media and Popular Culture, Research in the Teaching of English, QED: A Journal in GLBTQ Worldmaking, and various other journals, edited volumes, and textbooks. I’m the co-editor of Media Crossroads: Intersections of Space and Identity in Screen Cultures (2021) with Paula J. Massoof and Pamela Robertson Wojcik.
